I got the fajitas. My wife got the nachos, The fajitas came with three 4-inch corn tortillas, and the meat and veggies were DRY with no seasoning. The nachos weren't vary flavorful either. The service was great! There were only 5 tables in the joint. The menu was on a daily basis, That day it was fajitas or nachos. We did get the spinach and that was the only thing that add a flavor.

What a wonderful restaurant! Locally owned, all food is locally sourced and remarkably well prepared! Our server, April, was kind and attentive and gave us the background on the place. It's a small dedicated menu and it allows them to excel. My wife got the salad with grilled chicken, feta, walnuts, sliced strawberries, spring mix and a red wine vinaigrette. She's texting all her friends now to tell them how good it was! I got the loaded baked potato with BBQ brisket. Fantastic! Had to try the lava cake with gelato... man oh man oh man... chocolate overload! Exactly what I wanted! We already are making plans to return!

TLDR: The food is good humble food. Very limited menu. Local ingredients. Friendly staff. The Humble Plate lives up to its name. The food was good, simple, humble cooking. This is not the place where you'll get a 5 star flambe filet mignon with whipped potatoes, but you will get a solid, yummy plate of food. We went on a Thursday and I got the Thursday steak fajitas special. My partner got the local hamburger with bacon + kale on the side. The fajitas: I ordered without onion only because I don't like them and the chef was so kind to come and ask if I was allergic as the side of rice has onion in it as well. I also added a side of sour cream and nacho cheese as they don't normally come with the fajitas. The steak was cubed and cooked medium well to well. It was still moist and not chewy. The green peppers had the perfect amount of bite and char to be delicious. The rice was lacking on salt and a little underdone (a few of the pieces had a little crunch) but mixing in the nacho cheese and all the juice from the peppers and beef made it pretty tasty. Corn tortillas were freshly grilled. 8.5/10 The burger according to my partner was solid but nothing to write home about. The bacon and kale he got on the side was in desperate need of salt and could use a splash of acid (lemon, apple cider vinegar, or red wine vinegar would be awesome). He wished fresh cut fries were an option. 7.9/10 The menu is VERY limited with a new special each day so plan accordingly and look up what's happening each day. I finished the meal with some chocolate gelato which was great. The staff was highly attentive and friendly. There were only like 6 tables in the whole place and we were the only 2 eating in which I'm sure helped. There was a steady stream of to go door dash orders though.

I ordered the lemon chicken with spinach and a creamy orzo. The chicken was pounded very thin therefore, it was overcooked. The orzo was cooked nicely but lacking flavor. And there was no spinach. Maybe one baby leaf on the chicken. I was disappointed because the description in the menu made it sound delicious. Maybe if they didn't pound their chicken so thin it won't get overcooked. Also, the lack of spinach which was in the menu description was disappointing as well. The orzo was good but lacked flavor.

What a find! This place exists in a field of fast food restaurants and chains, but offers home-cooked, delicious meals. There are many healthy options on the menu and some comfort food too. I plan to return any time I'm in town. The lunch lemon chicken and orzo special was so good, and I returned the next week just for the special!

Very simple and delicious. The best meal I have had in a long time. Split items with my lunch guest and had the 1/2 size gumbo, a brisket stuffed backed potato, lime shrimp and grits, trout with pasta salad, and lump crab with roasted asparagus. Finished it off with the blackberry cobbler. Everything was top notch.

Nice little out of the way spot for a quick, wholesome, and homemade meal. Super friendly staff and lots of regular, repeat customers. The Loaded Baked Potato was baked to perfection with a consistently soft and fluffy texture throughout and no charring of the outer skin. Adding a side of broccoli salad and or asparagus made for a very nice meal. The broccoli salad with raisins, bacon, carrots, sunflower seeds, onions, and sweet dressing is a nice fresh blend of flavors that complements the potato well. The roasted asparagus spears have a nice clean delicate flavor and a dusting of toasted sesame seeds. The homemade apple cobbler was the perfect opener for the meal (got it while waiting for the rest, by request). It is a batter style cobbler with fresh apples and cinnamon. The batter was very evenly cooked with a delicate crumb and not too sweet as the filling compensates well. Very well prepared and very delicious.

What a wonderful hidden gem in Lexington, NC. I am surrounded by fast food and BBQ as the norm. A good friend of mine has been persistent about me trying The Humble Plate and I must agree with him, very satisfying. I ordered from the daily menu...Chinese chicken and asparagus. The chicken was wonderful in a light soy honey sauce with broccoli. The rice was flaky and the asparagus was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Usually when I have an Asian syle dish out, it is over sauced and high in sodium. This was not the case today. When I return I am going to try the quinoa salad with chicken and Brussel sprouts. Really nice place and people.
